Run Balmoral Apollo Duathlon 2022

We were delighted to support the recent 2022 Run Balmoral weekend which featured a hefty dose of sunshine and a return of the family sporting weekend after an absence of two years due to the pandemic.

It was great to see a return to the weekend with the primary school, secondary school, 5K and 10K races on the Saturday accompanied by a huge turnout. The sunshine provided a great atmosphere for the well-organised event!

For the more serious athletes, day 2 kicks off with the Apollo Duathlon, a 6K run in front of the iconic castle followed by a 16K mountain bike stage over some of the most glorious highland countryside after which the participants ‘enjoy’ a further 5K run.

The event has grown in popularity over the 8 years since its inception with nearly 300 participants entering. Conditions were excellent and saw the first man Sam Milton of Moray Road Runners club set a new course record of 1:18:54 followed by the first lady Laura Murray in 1:36:30

Team Apollo were well represented in the event with our own Stephen Molloy, Senior Engineer, enjoying a very respectable 5th place in 1:24:10.

Roisean Farquhar, Marketing Lead, was on hand to present the prizes at the end to the category winners.

Huge congratulations to all who took part and we are looking forward to making next year even bigger and better!
