Decarbonisation

Decarbonisation

As set out in the Prime Ministers’ Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution the government is aiming for 5GW of low carbon hydrogen production capacity by 2030. Included in the plan is the ambition to capture 10Mt of CO2 a year by 2030.

Through the development of innovative funding mechanisms and industrial clusters, the government alone is investing £12 billion. This investment will include technology, infrastructure, innovation and alternate fuels to enable an effective transition to a zero carbon economy. Part of this will be through low carbon hydrogen production, carbon capture, and storage running alongside other required carbon reduction strategies. Our energy transition partner

Apollo consultants, advisors and engineers are working with a growing portfolio of clients advising on low carbon hydrogen strategies and projects, conceptual studies for carbon abatement and power to x projects. Your experience and track record enable our clients to successfully navigate this dynamic area for the benefit of their business and the environment.

Government and private sector investment in hydrogen production and carbon abatement projects will likely see the UKs largest collective infrastructure project in post-war years. This is a very dynamic and diverse market involving new energy developer’s as well as established traditional providers, government and NGOs, technology developers and traditional consumers.

Blue and green hydrogen

Apollo works with our clients to deliver cost effective hydrogen infrastructure projects. We understand the opportunities, risks and technical challenges of hydrogen production across the hydrogen colour spectrum. Our expertise in carbon capture and removal has enabled us to support our clients in large and small scale blue hydrogen projects.

Our knowledge of offshore wind and marine energies has led to participation in a number of green hydrogen projects, particularly with the use of curtailed wind. We have even consulted on white hydrogen (naturally occurring) and pink hydrogen (electrolysis with nuclear energy) projects!

Apollo provides commercial, engineering, planning, logistical, safety and risk advisory services for hydrogen production and is currently working alongside a variety of clients in this area.
