As set out in the Prime Ministers’ Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution the government is aiming for 5GW of low carbon hydrogen production capacity by 2030. Included in the plan is the ambition to capture 10Mt of CO2 a year by 2030.
Through the development of innovative funding mechanisms and industrial clusters, the government alone is investing £12 billion. This investment will include technology, infrastructure, innovation and alternate fuels to enable an effective transition to a zero carbon economy. Part of this will be through low carbon hydrogen production, carbon capture, and storage running alongside other required carbon reduction strategies.
