Apollo is proud to support RGU Motorsport, a student-led society at Robert Gordon University competing in the IMechE Formula Student Competition—Europe’s most established educational engineering competition.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2023, Formula Student (FS) challenges teams to design, build, and race a single-seater race car. Backed by industry leaders, including Ross Brawn OBE, it’s regarded as the gold standard for engineering graduates, helping them transition from university to the workplace. With over 100 university teams competing annually, FS combines hands-on engineering with essential business and project management skills—preparing students for real-world challenges.
Apollo’s partnership with RGU Motorsport focuses on technical seminars that enhance engineering expertise in simulation, quality management, and structured problem-solving.
In Seminar 1, we covered:
✅ ANSYS Simulation – Using ANSYS Mechanical and Fluent to analyse strength, aerodynamics, and performance.
✅ Quality Management – Implementing structured document control and peer review processes to maintain high standards.
✅ MathCAD & Technical Calculations – Best practices for accurate engineering calculations and structured problem-solving.
Future sessions will provide industry insights, graduate opportunities, and practical support for their Business Plan Presentation. We’ll also host a session at Apollo’s office to review their final work and provide feedback.
By working with RGU Motorsport, we aim to bridge the gap between education and industry, equipping students with practical experience, technical expertise and industry knowledge.
A big thank you to RGU Motorsport for having us! It’s inspiring to see such passion for engineering and motorsport—we look forward to supporting your journey.
