Cyber security, where it counts.

OT-focused protection for safer operations

We talk a lot about safety in engineering. But in the world of operational technology (OT), cyber security is safety.

At a recent Lunch and Learn, Apollo’s Turan Daspan shared insights from a live project with a North Sea client. The work was initiated following an HSE audit and focuses on the control systems that manage offshore operations – systems that often fall outside the scope of traditional IT security measures.

Not your standard cyber project

This isn’t about email filters or corporate firewalls.

It’s about keeping physical systems online, secure, and safe.

The project includes:

  • A detailed risk assessment and gap analysis
  • Policy and procedure updates
  • OT-specific cyber training
  • Network segregation
  • Focus on securing third-party access

Turan also highlighted a key takeaway – securing third-party suppliers is just as important as securing internal systems. The weakest link in a chain still breaks the chain.

OT cyber security is no longer optional

In today’s environment, protecting your OT systems is critical to maintaining safe operations – and a robust safety case.
