In response to regulatory requirements, an offshore operations company partnered with us to upgrade their Operational Technology (OT) Network, ensuring enhanced cybersecurity and compliance with industry standards.
The background
Following a visit from a UK regulatory body, an offshore operations company was required to upgrade their Operational Technology (OT) Network. The goal was to ensure compliance with applicable standards, enhance the robustness of their systems to protect against cyber incidents, and mitigate potential risks.
The problem
The project’s challenge was to review the existing OT cybersecurity framework, identify gaps, and develop an improvement plan with agreed activities, deliverables, and timelines.
The process
Our team, in collaboration with the client and specialist vendors, conducted various reviews of existing policies and procedures. IT/OT Network segregation was designed and is currently being implemented. A detailed OT Cybersecurity Risk Assessment was completed, providing recommendations to achieve a more secure cybersecurity framework. OT cybersecurity training content and sessions are also being developed.
The solution
IT/OT Network segregation and policies were revised to include recommendations from the UK regulator and applicable industry standards. Following the OT Cybersecurity Detailed Risk Assessment, recommendations are being discussed with third-party suppliers for implementation. New OT cybersecurity training modules are being developed to integrate into the client’s competency framework.
The outcome
Subsequent inspection meetings with the UK regulator have been satisfactorily completed, with revised policies and procedures forwarded to meet the initial recommendations and ensure compliance with applicable OT cybersecurity standards.
