Apollo’s Live Podcast: Inspiring Young Women in STEM

At Apollo, we believe in breaking barriers and empowering the next generation of women in STEM. On February 11th, we’re recording a special live episode of our podcast, What on Earth, at Pembrokeshire College, funded by the SPARC programme.

This episode will feature real conversations between industry leaders and female students from seven different schools, who will listen to our panel discussions about career paths, challenges, and opportunities in STEM.

Meet the Panel

Michelle Hitches (Apollo): Professional Project Manager and accountant with over 20 years’ experience in the renewables, construction, and finance sectors. She has led decarbonisation projects and has a strong background in energy transition, funding coordination, and strategy development. Michelle will be hosting this session.

Louise McDonnell (RWE): Mechanical Engineer and Hydrogen Project Development Manager with nearly 19 years’ experience in the energy industry. She has held key engineering and leadership roles at Pembroke Power Station and is now pioneering green hydrogen production with RWE.

Madeleine Cowley (MPS): Chartered Mechanical Engineer, team leader, and project manager with 30 years’ experience in marine, offshore, and onshore renewables. Currently a Project Manager at Marine Power Systems (MPS), she is developing offshore wind platforms for deep-water sites.

Why this matters?

Despite progress, women are still underrepresented in STEM fields. Seeing real role models and hearing their journeys can be a game-changer for young women considering careers in science, technology, engineering, and maths.
