A Conversation with Stephen Flynn MP

Apollo Directors meet with Stephen Flynn MP

We were delighted to welcome Stephen Flynn MP to our Aberdeen office this month.

After meeting with our Directors, Stephen joined a Q&A with the wider team. The session was open, honest and full of thought-provoking questions.

Key themes

In our conversations we underlined the critical role oil and gas plays in enabling the wider energy transition, from powering today’s economy to funding and building tomorrow’s low-carbon solutions.

We also raised the challenges created by policy decisions not to invest in the North Sea. This highlighted the risks of increasing reliance on costly and more carbon-intensive imports.

The discussion touched on licensing, the windfall tax, emissions targets, nuclear and the ongoing consultations shaping the future of the sector.

Why these conversations matter

The energy landscape is evolving quickly. Balancing energy security, jobs and the transition to low-carbon solutions is no simple task. Conversations like this are vital to ensure the voices of industry are heard and that future policy reflects real-world challenges and opportunities.

We’d like to thank Stephen for taking the time to hear our team’s views and share his perspective. It was a valuable exchange, and one we look forward to continuing as our industry works to deliver the energy security and low-carbon solutions of tomorrow.
